HOLZ-HANDWERK will take place as planned from 18 to 21 March 2020 at the Nürnberg exhibition centre.
Dear exhibitors and visitors,
as NürnbergMesse we organize almost one international trade fair per week. In times like these, this also means that we are constantly concerned with the effects of the Corona Virus on our events. As a company, we consider the risks and opportunities of holding an exhibition very carefully and very rationally.
And we certainly pay attention to the reactions and decisions of our customers – your reactions, dear exhibitors and visitors. We know that you are checking very carefully whether your participation in a trade fair will be as successful as we all wish. Whether the opportunities are worth the perceived risk.
We have had a number of enquiries about coronavirus (COVID-19) and would like to assure you that the medical care available at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg will be at its usual highly professional level, and that exhibitors, trade visitors and journalists will enjoy the best possible protection. An entire package of measures is in place to ensure you are fully protected: in addition to our proven emergency management systems and the Bavarian Red Cross station, which will have interpreters standing by, extra disinfectant dispensers will be placed around the venue, and heavily used areas and fittings like entrances, door handles and staircases will be kept clean over and above their usual high standard.
We will also remain in constant close contact with the health authorities at a federal, State and local level, and will implement any instructions they issue. So you can rest assured that you are in safe hands here in Nuremberg!
Our personal request to you: let us stand together – especially in these challenging times.

Will FENSTERBAU FRONTALE and HOLZ-HANDWERK 2020 take place?
FENSTERBAU FRONTALE and HOLZ-HANDWERK 2020 will take place as announced from 18 – 21 March 2020 at the Nürnberg Exhibition Centre.
Are there any entry restrictions to Germany, especially Nuremberg?
No, because freedom of travel is a great asset and there are no instructions from German authorities as to why citizens of any nation should be refused entry to Germany.
The public health department of the city of Nuremberg confirmed on Tuesday 25.02.2020, that the risk situation due to the corona virus has not changed in Nuremberg, Bavaria and Germany. Since 14.02.2020, a new regulation of the Federal Ministry of Health has been in force, according to which all passengers on all direct flights from China to Germany must provide written information about themselves on board, including whether they have recently been in the crisis areas or had contact with sick people.
Air travellers from China will now be asked even more precisely than before about possible corona virus contact after their arrival in Bavaria and Hesse. Should a person be reported, the medical service at the airport will be informed, a doctor will examine the passenger on board and decide on the further procedure. The Federal Ministry of Health had ordered a corresponding procedure based on recommendations of the EU Health Council. Currently, there are direct flights from China only to Bavaria and Hesse.
Are there any restrictions on access to the Nürnberg Exhibition Centre?
NürnbergMesse is an international exhibition venue and of course exhibitors and visitors from all over the world will take part in our events. There is no reason to deny access to our exhibitions to persons of a specific nationality for safety or health reasons.
How many Chinese companies participate in FENSTERBAU FRONTALE and HOLZ-HANDWERK 2020?
There are 36 companies registered for FENSTERBAU FRONTALE 2020. We do not expect that all of these companies will be able to participate in the event due to exit restrictions. No exhibitors from China have registered for HOLZ-HANDWERK 2020.
How many visitors do you expect from China?
Based on the experience of the other trade fairs that have taken place at the Nürnberg Exhibition Centre in recent weeks, we expect fewer visitors from China than in previous years. At FENSTERBAU FRONTALE and HOLZ-HANDWERK 2018 the proportion of Chinese visitors was 1.9 per cent. We cannot estimate the final participation in 2020.
Have Chinese exhibitors or visitors already cancelled their visit?
Three Chinese exhibitors of FENSTERBAU FRONTALE have so far cancelled their visit.
What cancellation conditions apply if I, as an exhibitor, wish to withdraw from my participation due to Corona virus?
Exhibitors can find the cancellation costs for stands in the General Terms and Conditions of NürnbergMesse. The General Terms and Conditions of Service Partners apply to the cancellation of services booked with Service Partners of NürnbergMesse.
Is there no possibility of infection on the exhibition site?
NürnbergMesse ensures a very high standard of hygiene at Nürnberg Exhibition Centre through a large bundle of measures such as additional disinfectant dispensers on the exhibition grounds and increased cleaning in heavily frequented areas such as entrances, door handles or staircases.
The first-aid stations are increasingly manned and are optimally prepared and equipped for the relevant scenarios professionally, medically and with the appropriate equipment. Structured procedures are fixed in several languages, so that even if undifferentiated symptoms occur, professional clarification and medical support is provided as quickly as possible.
NürnbergMesse is closely networked with the responsible safety and rescue authorities and is a member of a task force of the local health authority. The local, national and global development of the corona virus is monitored around the clock by the security department of NürnbergMesse, so that the prepared security measures can be intensified and implemented in stages at any time in a very short reaction time.
Irrespective of the corona virus, it can never be ruled out that, despite very high hygiene standards, one can also become infected during a visit to the exhibition.
What should I do if I want to protect myself during the exhibition?
We advise all participants in our events to familiarize themselves with the recommendations of the health authorities regarding individual infection protection measures. The BZgA recommends above all good hand hygiene as the most important and effective measure for personal protection, see also: https://www.infektionsschutz.de/fileadmin/infektionsschutz.de/Downloads/Merkblatt-Infektionsschutz-Coronavirus-VR11.pdf (German only) Notices on the NürnbergMesse site raise awareness of correct hand washing and remind visitors of the opportunity to greet each other with a friendly smile instead of a handshake.
Does NürnbergMesse recommend self-isolation or self-quarantine?
No, as the German authorities do not recommend this measure either.
Does NürnbergMesse implement security measures such as thermal imaging cameras at the entrances/mouth protection for everyone?
No, according to the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA), thermal imaging cameras or "mouth protection for everyone" are of little help when it comes to the "coronavirus" issue. https://www.bundesgesundheitsministerium.de/en/en/press/2020/coronavirus.html#c17187
How will visitors be informed about the organization of FENSTERBAU FRONTALE and HOLZ-HANDWERK 2020?
Preparations are proceeding as usual and marketing measures are being implemented as planned.
The safety and health of all exhibition visitors, exhibitors and the general public is the top priority for NürnbergMesse. We therefore continuously monitor and analyze all developments relating to the coronavirus (COVID-19). We are also in constant communication with the health authorities.
Our actions are governed by the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Robert Koch-Institute (only in German). Based on this information, the HOLZ-HANDWERK trade fair in Nuremberg can take place as planned. Nevertheless, as a purely precautionary measure, we have taken measures that apply to all our exhibitions until further notice:
- We have set up additional dispensers of disinfectants in the entire area of the Nuremberg exhibition centre. In addition, we have put up notices that raise awareness of proper hand washing.
- Posters remind our visitors of the opportunity to greet each other with a friendly smile instead of a handshake.
- Our medical staff has been specially trained in dealing with infectious diseases and is a competent contact point for all questions relating to COVID-19.
- We have instructed our cleaning companies to clean areas that are usually touched frequently (e.g. door handles, escalator runs) with increased intensity.
Media reports from the weekend, 22 and 23 February 2020, focus on corona infections in Italy. As a purely precautionary measure, we are monitoring the situation in northern Italy and are following the recommendations of the authorities, according to which nothing generally stands in the way of major events in Germany.
We are in contact with the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior as well as with the local authorities such as the health authorities and the police headquarters.
The Federal Ministry of Health has ordered special security measures for the entry of air travellers from China:
What arrangements have been made?
The health authorities at the airports in Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin are collaborating closely with the Robert Koch Institute and the Federal Ministry of Transport and have prepared information material for travellers arriving from China. Additional, possible measures will continually be under joint scrutiny depending on the risk assessment for Germany.
What measures have been put in place to recognise suspected cases as early as possible?
_Pilots on flights from China are required to inform air traffic control on the health status of their passengers before landing.
_Travellers from the affected areas will be required to fill in landing cards giving information on their flight and stating where they will be staying for the 30 days following landing. Airlines will distribute the landing cards and transmit the completed cards to the public health offices for safekeeping.
_Doctors, clinics and laboratories are required to report any cases where there is reasonable suspicion of the disease.
_The Robert Koch Institute is being granted even greater coordination powers. This has already been decided by mutual understanding.
