The new standard fitting with 14mm installation depth

After the successful introduction of the Clamex P-15 Lamello now unveils the new Clamex P-14. This newest innovation by Lamello was optimised for all standard ap-plications and creates many new possibilities. The new fitting will be available as of September 2014.

 The installation of the new fitting is based on the innova-tive P-System® groove and is a true time saver. Clamex P-14 is installed in the groove within seconds and without tools. The two integrated positioning pins avoid torsion and make any additional positioning elements like dowels superfluous. The maximum tensile strength of the fitting reaches at least 100kg. In its use the fitting offers ad-vantages like the installation depth of only 14mm, which is the same as for the Tenso P-14, eliminating the need depth 14mm is ideal for butt joints in panels 16mm thick, since there is more material left at the bottom of the groove. In mitre connections with 19mm panels, the posi-tioning of Clamex P-14 can be closer to the outer edge, clamping the joint perfectly.

Due to the lower installation depth, non-mitred angles are now possible from 22.5° to 108° in 19mm panels.

The work pieces are easily stacked for transport despite pre-installed fittings. This advantage leads to minimal transport volume and efficient glueing/assembly on site. The time for preparation as well as the transport of clamps and protectors to the site can be avoided, leading to lower cost for transport and logistics and to smaller installation teams.

The applications are very versatile and reach from gen-eral woodworking and carpentry over furniture making, interior and shop fitting all the way to bathrooms and kitchens. In the factory Clamex P-14 is ideal for the as-sembly of drawers, glued cabinets and work pieces of all kinds. On site it quickly and efficiently joins separating walls, column covers, plinths and fillers, front frames or any part needing adjustment on site.

The cutting of the P-System groove for the fitting is pos-sible with modern CNC technology as well as with the hand-held power tool Zeta P2 by Lamello. Most CNC producers have programmed macros for this purpose and with some CAD/CAM developers it is possible to pass the P-System groove from the CAD directly to the CNC machine. For the new fitting Lamello improved the manual installation further by developing a new P-System drill jig.

This new drill jig is suited for all current Clamex P fittings as well as for the new Clamex P-14. The drill jig follows an open concept to cater for new future elements.

The new drill jig is longer, making it possible to now drill holes at a very small angle of 22.5°. This new drill jig is available individually or as a starter set together with the Clamex P-14.

The new products are available from September 2014.

“Self-clamping, invisible fitting with slide insertion”

At the Interzum in Cologne, Lamello AG from Bubendorf, Switzerland, was awarded with the coveted interzum award for "Intelligent Material & Design 2015" with the distinction "best of the best" for the second time since 2013 with its new P-System connecting fitting, "Divario".

The latest P-System connecting fitting, Divario P-18, offers completely invisible connections that meet the highest quality standards and rounds off the P-System family with a new function. With the Divario shelves or separation walls can be inserted into pre-assembled structures. Additionally, the Divario P-18 also clamps the components during insertion, creating clean tight joints. The clamping action only occurs at certain points rather than across the entire insertion length, making the components easier to insert. Due to the strong connection between the work pieces, the joint is able to carry high tensile forces. With this new fitting the user has greater flexibility in design without having to forgo stability.

Clamping aids and adhesive are not required to insert the components. As a result, the connector makes it possible to assemble the components at the most cost-effective stage in the chain, whether at production, storage, transportation or assembly. The connector can be fully or only partially fitted on site. Moreover, the fitting is detachable for transportation.

The P-System groove for the fitting can either be created using CNC technology or very simply by hand using the Zeta P2 power tool from Lamello.

The Divario P-18 is available from specialist retailers from May 2015.

Zeta P2

The Zeta P2 is the profile biscuit joiner for P-System anchorage, and the Clamex P connector range in particular, and is used to connect wood materials.

The integrated vertical mechanical drive on the cutting spindle of the Zeta P2 is the centre-piece of this profile biscuit joiner. During the cutting process, the vertical mechanical drive automatically performs a vertical movement to create the profile groove. All P-System fittings are then manually inserted into this groove, ensuring a fast form-locking anchorage.

The Zeta P2 can cut P-System grooves for connecting fittings with varying installation depths simply by turning the P-System depth adjuster, thus removing the need to change cutters.

Function

The vertical movement for the profile groove is triggered automatically when the maximum cutting depth is reached and requires just a fraction of a second. The vertical mechanical drive combines process security and reliability with a low-wear, fully mechanical construction.

The Zeta P2 can also be employed as a standard biscuit joiner for original biscuits by simply deactivating the profile groove function and changing to a 4mm blade.

The successful glueing aid, the Tenso P-14, is now available with a new function. The connector can be installed faster and more efficiently in all angles, allowing the user to benefit from a range of new applications.

The new preload clip allows the Tenso P-14 to be preloaded by hand in a simple process before glue is applied. The force required to connect the workpieces is reduced significantly thanks to the use of preloaded connectors. Moreover, the Tenso P-14 can be used not only for 90° connections, but now also for gluing all kinds of angles. This createsparticularly positive results on larger components with several fittings, bulky parts or special angles.

Whether or not you use it with a preload clip, the Tenso P-14 glueing aid from Lamello features an incredibly high clamping force, which is generated by the resistance created when pressing the connection together, or by the preloading clip. This allows work pieces to be glued without the use of additional clamping aids, such as screw clamps or presses, which permits an unprecedented level of flexibility, speed and simplicity in the complete design, manufacturing, transport and assembly process.

The connector‘s installation and anchorage is based on the innovative P-System® profile groove from Lamello. This form-locking anchorage between the workpiece and fitting guarantees maximum strength, saves an incredible amount of time and is extremely efficient. The joining elementis inserted in without screws or adhesive in seconds. The P-System groove for the fitting can be milled either using modern CNC technology or very simply by hand using the Zeta P2 manual machine from Lamello.
