HOLZ-HANDWERK 2012 with new surprises for visitors
- Video portal for the exhibition
- TSD Cup and Planing Championship

HOLZ-HANDWERK opens its doors for the 16th time from 21–24 March 2012. Not only the exhibitors at the Trade Fair for Machine Technology, Equipment and Supplies for the Wood Crafts present another outstanding range of innovative products, but the supporting programme has a few surprises too. The TSD Cup competition to attract new recruits into the trade and the German Planing Championship will be organized in Nürnberg for the first time. Guided tours of the city to round off the days at the exhibition are another new feature. The video portal www.holz-handwerk.tv provides a record of the exhibition highlights on the Internet both during and after the event. fensterbau/frontale, the world’s leading exhibition for windows, doors and facades, traditionally runs parallel to HOLZ-HANDWERK. More than 100,000 visitors are expected at the exhibition duo. E-tickets, which are obtainable at www.holz-handwerk.de/ticketshop from the beginning of February 2012, speed up admission to the exhibition.
There are many innovative material solutions, trends and developments to admire in the wood, machinery and tool sectors on the four days of HOLZ-HANDWERK 2012. This year the exhibition has a special new feature for those who don’t manage to see everything in the hustle and bustle of the exhibition or who would like to review the impressions of the event again: the video portal www.holz-handwerk.tv,
which shows the highlights of the exhibition on the Internet. The features, demonstrations, interviews, etc. enable Internet users to update on many topics at any time. There will even be live broadcasts from the exhibition studio at the Mitte (central) entrance during the exhibition opening times.
m.holz-handwerk.de make sure that owners of smartphones always have the latest information about HOLZ-HANDWERK 2012 to hand. Whether exhibitor search, floor plan, opening times, entrance prices or travel and accommodation, the mobile sites offer all the important information about the exhibition, plus a useful feature for saving exhibitors on a favourites list. TSD Cup recruitment campaign
There will be lots of activity on the stand of the Fachverband Schreinerhandwerk Bayern (Bavarian Carpentry Association), when the Bavarian-wide final of the TSD Cup takes place on 24 March. The competition is part of a nationwide recruitment campaign to get young people interested in the carpenter’s trade, because the shortage of skilled staff makes it urgently necessary to attract more young people into the trade. The Planing Championship promises to be an exciting event for visitors. The aim of the championship is to find the person who can plane off the thinnest shavings – and this over a length of as much as 1.3 metres and a width of 4.5 cm. Hände-Werk e.V., the non-profit-making association for promoting traditional craftsmanship, will organize open competitions on Wednesday and Thursday, 21–22 March, to determine the winner on each day. Any visitor can enter for the competition spontaneously on the association’s stand until 4 p.m. The German Championship will be organized on Friday and Saturday, 23–24 March. Prior registration by not later than 19 March is necessary to enter for the Planing Championship 2012. Guided tour of Nürnberg: Anna Kucherer shows her Nürnberg
Guided city tours to round off the day at the exhibition are offered as a new feature in 2012. Anna Kucherer, a “genuine Nürnberg gingerbread baker” of past times, takes interested visitors on a 90-minute tour of her home town and shows that Nürnberg is far more than just a venue for exhibitions. The free tour is offered on 21, 22 and 23 March and starts from the Mitte (central) entrance of the exhibition centre at 5 p.m. each day.
